It's all about the people. And the web. And beer.
The Build Guild is a simple thing. A regular gathering of the web-folk with no commercial purposes. Talk web, design, industry topics, share some ideas, network and make professional connections, maybe pick up a freelance project or gig. Have a pint. Have 3 pints. Buy someone else a pint. Buy me a pint.
There are no keynote speeches. No formal agenda. No rules. Just people.
So if you're a designer, developer, strategist, project manager, information architect or even a hobbyist, come on out.
The Local Chapter.
Quarterbacked by Jack McDade in conjunction with Jonathan Christopher – two web geeks, entrepreneurs, co-workers and wanna-be golfers – the Albany/Saratoga is the very first expansion Chapter of the Build Guild.
This whole she-bang came around through Twitter, as most great industry things do. After chatting with Marc and Angelo, we all agreed the New York Capital Region was a great place to branch out – not too far from the founders and populated with webbies of all sorts, and that we were the right guys to grow the vision. And here we are.
The Founders.
The original Build Guild is run by Marc Amos and Fred LeBlanc; it was originally created by Marc Amos and Angelo Simeoni. It was started as and continues to be a monthly event where folks in the web industry—designers, coders, project managers, hobbyists, etc.—can get together to talk web, debate industry topics, share ideas, make professional connections, land gigs, and discuss the real reasons why mustaches need to make a comeback.
So where are we meeting?
This month we're at Brown's Brewing Company, thanks to popular demand! This is one of the best pubs in the area, and pretty central to boot.
Brown's Brewing Co. is located at 417 River Street Troy, NY 1218.
When to show up.
We'll begin at 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 28th.
Sign up and let us know you're coming!
